Output

Material sample tile is made with residues from wastewater treatments from the ceramic production and leftover clay.

This tile is part of the MUD MATTERS project for Porto Design Biennale 2023.

Starting with the raw material "mud" various recipes were developed involving different percentages of sewage sludge, ranging from 0% to 100% reuse.

Production Process:
• waste collection at the Ceramista Shop, Leiria
• Portioning: 100ml of ceramic paste with a composition of 20 % Bajouca / rehydrated bio-based terra-cotta clay(4) and 80% liquid sludge from wastewater treatment (C7)
• no additional water
• slip casting mould
• drying phase
